Compatibility and installation

Direct replacement for GU10 halogen

Philips CorePro LEDspot is designed to directly replace an old 65 W GU10 halogen bulb. The base is the same GU10, the dimensions (Ø 50 × 54 mm) meet the halogen standard, and the bulb fits most GU10 luminaires without modifications.

PAR16 and 36° beam angle — for spotlighting

The PAR16 shape (Parabolic Aluminized Reflector, 16/8 inches) is a classic spotlight shape. The 36° beam angle is a traditional GU10 spotlight angle — ideal for lighting, for example, artworks, shelves, product displays, or work surfaces. Need wider general lighting? Then choose an LED bulb with a 110° beam angle (e.g. Sylvania RefLED ES50 6.2W).

Color temperature 4000 K — neutral white

This variant has a color temperature of 4000 K, which produces neutral white light. Suitable for offices, kitchens, and workspaces where clear light supports work.

Energy savings compared to halogen

The 5 W power replaces a 65 W halogen — energy savings are over 92%. The LED bulb's lifespan is many times longer than that of a halogen bulb.

No dimming

This is a non-dimmable model — do not connect to a dimmer. If you need dimming, choose the Philips CorePro LEDspot DIM 4W 4000K model.

Installation

Simple installation — remove the old halogen bulb by turning it counterclockwise, install the new LED in its place. You can make the replacement yourself without an electrician, when the power is turned off.

Does this LED directly replace an old 65W GU10 halogen lamp?

Yes. The Philips CorePro LEDspot 5 W is designed as a direct replacement for a 65 W GU10 halogen bulb. The base is the same GU10, the dimensions (Ø 50 × 54 mm) comply with the halogen standard, and the light output matches that of the previous halogen bulb.

You can install the LED directly in place of the old halogen bulb in the same luminaire without any modifications. Energy savings are typically over 92% compared to halogen, and the LED bulb's lifespan is many times longer than that of a halogen bulb.

Is the Philips CorePro LEDspot dimmable?

No. This is a non-dimmable CorePro LEDspot model. Do not connect it to a dimmer—when connected to a dimmer, the bulb may flicker or be damaged.

If you need a dimmable CorePro LEDspot model, choose the CorePro LEDspot DIM 4W 4000K, which is a dimmable version.

What is the difference between 36° and 110° beam angles?

The beam angle determines how wide an area the lamp illuminates:

  • 36° (this lamp): narrow spotlight — suitable for lighting artworks, shelves, work surfaces, and individual products
  • 110°: wide general illumination — suitable for corridors, hallways, storage rooms, and general lighting

Generally, halogen-based GU10 lamps have had a 36° beam angle, making this Philips CorePro a natural replacement for an old halogen luminaire. If the old luminaire was for general lighting (wider area), choose a 110° lamp such as the products in the Sylvania RefLED ES50 series.

What does the Philips CorePro series offer compared to the premium Master series?

Philips' LED range has several tiers:

  • CorePro: basic professional quality — reliable and cost-effective, CRI 80–89, suitable for most installations
  • Master: premium range — longer lifespan, better CRI (up to 97), accurate color rendering for retail and display use
  • Hue: smart range — color and light level can be adjusted with an app
