The Osram Halostar Oven is a G4 halogen lamp designed to withstand the high temperatures of ovens and other hot lighting applications. The lamp provides a warm 2800 Kelvin light, operates on a 12-volt voltage, and is compact in size (10 × 33 mm). Standard LED or regular halogen lamps are not suitable for oven use, so always choose a lamp specifically designed for high temperatures.

Compatibility and installation

The lamp operates on 12-volt voltage and requires a suitable 12 V power supply — do not connect it directly to the 230 V mains. The lamp is designed to withstand high temperatures, making it suitable for ovens and similar hot environments. Note: standard G4 LED lamps cannot withstand oven heat.

Installation checklist:

  1. Ensure the luminaire or device has a G4 holder and a 12 V power supply.
  2. Turn off the power and let the old lamp cool down before replacing it.
  3. Do not touch the lamp glass with bare fingers — skin oils shorten the lifespan of a halogen lamp; use a cloth or gloves.
  4. Insert the lamp pins straight into the holder and do not bend them.

What is this lamp intended for?

This is a heat-resistant G4 halogen bulb (12 V) designed for ovens and other high-temperature lighting applications. It provides 140 lumens of warm 2800 Kelvin light. The bulb withstands high temperatures where a standard bulb would not operate reliably.

Can I replace this with a standard LED bulb?

Not for oven use. Standard G4 LED bulbs cannot withstand the high temperatures of an oven, so they are not suitable for this purpose. Always choose a bulb specifically marked as heat-resistant or for oven use.

Does the lamp need a transformer?

Yes, if the light fixture does not have a ready-made 12 V power supply. This is a 12-volt bulb and must not be connected directly to the 230 V mains. Check the voltage of the device or light fixture before installation.

Can I touch the lamp glass during installation?

No. Do not touch the lamp glass with bare fingers. Skin oils leave a mark on the glass that heats up during use and shortens its lifespan. Handle the lamp with a clean cloth or wear gloves.
